Toevoegingen aan Openbaringen van Johannes 1;8 en 1;11

Het Bijbelgeschrift openbaringen van Johannes kent meerdere toevoegingen.

In Openbaringen 1;8 is het stukje; “ik ben het begin en het einde“, een toevoeging dat niet voorkomt in de vroegste manuscripten.

Dit geldt tevens voor openbaringen 1:11 waarbij evenmin dezelfde woorden zijn toegevoegd.

Critical notes on the Bible commentary

the beginning and the ending — omitted in the oldest manuscripts, though found in Vulgate and Coptic. Transcribers probably inserted the clause from Revelation 21:6. (…)

Ellicot’s commentary

The beginning and the ending.—These words are of doubtful authority; they are in all probability taken from Revelation 22:13, and interpolated here. The description of the verse applies, with little doubt, to our Lord, and the words are a strong declaration of His divinity

The beginning and the ending—omitted in the oldest manuscripts, though found in Vulgate and Coptic. Transcribers probably inserted the clause from Re 21:6
